Judge Sides with Monsanto; Ridicules Farmers Right to Grow Food Without Fear, Contamination and Economic Harm

New York, New York – On February 24, Judge Naomi Buchwald handed down her ruling on a motion to dismiss in the case of Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association (OSGATA) et al v. Monsanto after hearing oral argument on January 31st in Federal District Court in Manhattan. Her ruling to dismiss the case brought against Monsanto on behalf of organic farmers, seed growers and agricultural organizations representing farmers and citizens was met with great disappointment by the plaintiffs. It seems to me that the tie between the biggest corporations and certain members of our judicial system is still very strong and the result of this collaboration may be the complete destruction of our health and our earth. I am a great fan of organic food and in Canada organic farming has recently been on the rise but I am afraid that this kind of unfair treatment can lead to the gradual decay of the organic food industry in the years to come. We should take this as a warning to act until it’s too late.
