11 YRS OLD EXPOSES MONSANTO

We the People, Not We the Corporations

On January 21, 2010, with its ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Supreme Court ruled once again that corporations are persons, entitled by the U.S. Constitution to buy elections and run our government. Human beings are people; corporations are legal fictions.

We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.

The Supreme Court is misguided in principle, and wrong on the law. In a democracy, the people rule. We Move to Amend.

ACT: The new threat to the net

ACTA – a global treaty – could allow corporations to censor the Internet. Negotiated in secret by a small number of rich countries and corporate powers, it would set up a shadowy new anti-counterfeiting body to allow private interests to police everything that we do online and impose massive penalties – even prison sentences — against people they say have harmed their business.

Europe is deciding right now whether to ratify ACTA — and without them, this global attack on Internet freedom will collapse. We know they have opposed ACTA before, but some members of Parliament are wavering – let’s give them the push they need to reject the treaty. Sign the petition — we’ll do a spectacular delivery in Brussels when we reach 500,000 signatures.

It’s outrageous — governments of four fifths of the world’s people were excluded from the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) negotiations and unelected bureaucrats have worked closely with corporate lobbyists to craft new rules and a dangerously powerful enforcement regime. ACTA would initially cover the US, EU and 9 other countries, then be rolled out across the world. But if we can get the EU to say no now, the treaty will lose momentum and could stall for good.

The oppressively strict regulations could mean people everywhere are punished for simple acts such as sharing a newspaper article or uploading a video of a party where copyrighted music is played. Sold as a trade agreement to protect copyrights, ACTA could also ban lifesaving generic drugs and threaten local farmers’ access to the seeds they need. And, amazingly, the ACTA committee will have carte blanche to change its own rules and sanctions with no democratic scrutiny.

Big corporate interests are pushing hard for this, but the EU Parliament stands in the way. Let’s send a loud call to Parliamentarians to face down the lobbies and stand firm for Internet freedom. Sign now and send to everyone you know.

Last week, we saw the strength of our collective power when millions of us joined forces to stop the US from passing an Internet censorship law that would have struck at the heart of the Internet. We also showed the world how powerful our voices can be. Let’s raise them again to tackle this new threat.

17-Mile Drive

Really, you can trademark a tree?

While a friend was visiting this summer we took a drive down the coast and experienced the 17-mile loop. As a non-resident of Pebble Beach you have to pay a toll to use the road to drive through the gated community to get to the coast. Along this drive you will see The Lone Cypress. The Lone Cypress tree is over 200 years old and because its one of the most famous trees in the world, it is also the official symbol of Pebble Beach. The tree, which sits on a rock, has supporting cables around it to keep it from falling. In 1990 the Monterey Journal reported that Pebble Beach’s lawyer, Kerry C. Smith, said “The image of the tree has been trademarked by us,” and this is intended to control any display of the cypress for commercial purposes. The corporation had warned photographers that “they cannot even use existing pictures of the tree for commercial purposes. Other legal commentators have questioned the Pebble Beach Corporation‘s ability to invoke intellectual property laws to restrict others’ use of such images. Like the community, most of the 17-Mile Drive is owned and operated by the Pebble Beach Corporation.

The pure white sand of the beach below is irresistible to harbor seals, which each spring return to bear their young. Closed during the harbor seal pupping season from April 1 to June 1.

In California, harbor seal pups are born between February and April and weigh about 20 to 24 pounds at birth. If born prematurely, harbor seals retain a whitish lanugo coat (which is usually lost before birth). A pup can swim at birth and will sometimes ride on its mother’s back when tired. Pups make a bleating noise that sounds like “maaaa.” After about four weeks, the pups are weaned. Adult females usually mate and give birth every year. They may live 25 to 30 years.

Pacific harbor seals have spotted coats in a variety of shades from white or silver-gray to black or dark brown. They reach five to six feet (1.7-1.9 m) in length and weigh up to 300 pounds (140 kg). Males are slightly larger than females. They are true or crawling seals, having no external ear flaps. True seals have small flippers and must move on land by flopping along on their bellies. In San Francisco Bay, many harbor seals are fully or partially reddish in color. This may be caused by an accumulation of trace elements such as iron or selenium in the ocean or a change in the hair follicle.

The weather could have been a little nicer for us so things would have looked a bit prettier. When the sun is out and the skies are blue the water here is such a beautiful turquoise color. Unfortunately that was not meant to be for us this day as you can see by the pictures it stayed a gray and foggy kind of day.

Grannie’s Applesauce

Prep Time: 10 Min                   Cook Time: 20-25 Min                   Ready In: 30 Min

This is by far the best applesauce recipe I’ve tried. It’s quick, easy and comes out perfect every time. I pretty much use whatever kind of apples I have around the house, granny smith, macintosh, fuji’s, empire, etc. Just remember the type of apples you use will determine how much sugar you will need. So always make sure to taste your apples before you go dumping sugar in. I have never had apples so tart where I had to add sugar to this recipe. I have however had them so sweet where I could have, should have, decreased the sugar a bit.

Ingredients

4 large apples (peeled, cored and diced into small pieces)
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup white sugar (or sugar substitute of your choice)
Sprinkle with cinnamon

Directions

In a medium saucepan combine apples, sugar and water. Cover and cook over medium heat for 20 to 25 minutes, or until apples are soft. Allow to cool for a few minutes then mash with a potato masher. Poor in bowl, sprinkle with cinnamon. Enjoy!
*This will thicken as you mash and stir and starts to cool.

Hello kiddies. So glad you could join me. I don’t know what these protesters are so worked up about? Some must still be under the illusion America is a free country. That they still have rights under the First Amendment. Don’t they know that in new Corporate America you’re not allowed to gather for peaceful protests against the Corporate States, or in some cases sit, have a beer and listen to some music on private property. They will only let you gather if you, come wrapped in the American flag, have tea bags hanging out of your ears, have a gun, want to end the People’s Government, have lots of misspelled signs with racist images towards other groups of people you really hate, or oppose the Corporate agenda to privatize America.

And why should any of these protesters have a voice? They are after all only American citizens. They are only the citizens who have had enough of this corrupt government that no longer serves it people, workers laid off from their jobs, farmers pushed off their land, small business owners pushed out by super corps, people who have lost their homes from foreclosure, students strapped with such debt they will spend the rest of their life trying to pay it off, teachers trying to save public schools to make sure everyone has opportunity to better their lives, veterans who fought in wars thinking they were keeping their country free, the homeless who haven’t anywhere else to go and are probably enjoying the company. You know, the ones discarded like animals when they get sick or there is no longer use for them. Silly, silly people why would any of you think you would have a voice in the New Corporate America. You lost that over thirty years ago with your own blind ignorance and greed. If the people want to restore anything they might have previously had in the way of freedom and liberty they will have to stay united and prepare for a long hard fight.

So remember all you kiddies in America the land of the unfree home of the brain-dead, if you wear a mask after Halloween, even if you are on private property the big bad Corporate Police Officers can come arrest you, and you’ll never see your mummies or daddies ever again.

Tell California Gov. Brown not to kill thousands of innocent shelter animals.

Governor Jerry Brown, I understand that you are planning to repeal key provisions of the Hayden Law that protects shelter animals in order to save the state money. This is wrong. The Hayden Law protects the hundreds of thousands of dogs, cats and other animals that enter California animal shelters every year by requiring that they be kept alive and available for reclamation or adoption for at least 4-6 days before being killed, and by extending the hours of operation of shelters to allow working families interested in adopting to visit during evenings and weekends. Thousands of innocent animals should not be killed to alleviate California’s budget woes. There are better and more humane solutions to our state’s fiscal problems.
